Lightning Talk Description: Interprofessional education has gained significant attention and presents an opportunity to enhance the academy through a team-based approach. While compelling global evidence supports the theory and necessity of improved interprofessional collaboration in education, implementing Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SOTL) across professions requires deliberate and strategic efforts. Faculty development initiatives have started to bridge the gap between educators who were trained separately and the teams they currently lead. Although there is a growing body of literature and an increasing focus on teamwork in regional and national presentations, academic leaders must better recognize and leverage interprofessional education, service, and research within SOTL.

In response to the growing interest in SOTL and the institutional commitment to scholarship excellence, an interprofessional team from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center has developed the IPE SOTL Toolkit. This toolkit is designed for faculty and professional staff at any stage of their academic career, regardless of their research experience level. Its purpose is to guide the scholarship of teaching towards opportunities that foster team-based collaboration, utilizing the support provided by the University. The toolkit includes resources for networking, a logic model template for SOTL implementation, identification of inquiry areas, assessment and evaluation exploration, research guidance, funding assistance, publication support, presentation opportunities, and training programs. Any institution aiming to simplify the prioritization and implementation of interprofessional scholarship across various professions and research expertise can utilize this model.

The OUHSC IPE SOTL Toolkit addresses Developing and Sustaining Leadership in Interprofessional Practice and Education. It introduces a novel model for developing leadership competence in interprofessional education. It can serve as a template for other leadership teams to support and strengthen interprofessional education providers within their institutions. This presentation introduces the OUHSC IPE SOTL Toolkit as a resource for interprofessional leadership teams to establish qualified academic teams.
