Melissa Craft PhD ARPN-CNS AOCN FCNS FAAN is an Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist who is an Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs, Outreach and Practice Innovation in the OUHSC Fran and Earl Ziegler College of Nursing. In addition to teaching and administration, Dr. Craft has a busy research program which focuses on storytelling to help people who are dealing with critical life events such as dealing with cancer. Melissa has served as Co-Chair of the Research Committee for the Interprofessional Educators and Practitioners Association IEPA for the several years and serves as a faculty sponsor for Unity Clinic.

Lightning Talk Description: The people of Afghanistan have endured countless humanitarian challenges over the years. In 2021, approximately 1,000 Afghan refugees were relocated to Oklahoma City within a six-month timeframe. These new refugees arrived with numerous complex health conditions including late term pregnancies. Teams comprised of faculty, staff, administration, and students from OU Health and the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center established an interprofessional workgroup.
