Melissa Zarn Urankar is an Associate Professor and Director of IPE at Southern College of Optometry (SCO). She teaches the IPE course and the Patient Communication & Clinical Internship Introduction courses. She is engaged in curriculum development to enhance IPE and collaborative practice opportunities for students at SCO. She is a member and founding Chair of the Association of Schools and Colleges of Optometry IPE and Collaborative Practice Special Interest Group, Co-Chair of Tennessee Interprofessional Practice and Education Consortium’s Membership and Communications Working Group, and previous Co-Chair of the American Interprofessional Health Collaborative Program Committee’s Mentoring Program Workgroup.

Seminar Description: The Steering Committee for Association of Schools and Colleges of Optometry’s Interprofessional Education and Collaborative Practice (IPECP) Special Interest Group, which is composed of optometric educators throughout the United States, converted a traditional Summit format to a hybrid series.    This introduction will teach some foundation moves for Middle Eastern dance (sometimes referred to as belly dance). Movements will highlight the use of core & postural muscles as well as hip, shoulder, and spine mobility.
