Lightning Talk Description: The Nexus Summit Lightning Talk, “How to Build a Digital Social Community for IPE Research and Education,” is designed to introduce knowledge and/or skills that are immediately actionable. The workshop seeks to achieve improved confidence using and interacting with various social media channels to grow audiences from the IPE research, learners and practice communities via centers and or individuals.

A brief 5-minute PowerPoint slide show will be presented covering the past two years of data and how CAIPER built a digital community focusing and highlighting all things IPE and how CAIPER has become one of the top national and internationally social media brands for IPE. Learners will have “in the moment” examples provided via screen sharing of CAIPER's multiple social media channels, behind the scenes of the tools that can be used to connect and broaden a digital community and will see how easy it can be to navigate social media channels focused specifically on interprofessional education, research, practice and community building.

During the Q&A portion of presentation, author and presenter (Jody Thompson, MS,) will work through any questions and view other social media accounts to trouble shoot, offer suggestions, address current concerns with using social media and "triage" any challenges centers or individuals might be having.

Learning Objectives:
After attending this session, learners will be able to:
1. Navigate current social media accounts on either Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram or Facebook, to maximize their Center’s (or personal) potential for connecting with others in the IPE community through elevating bios, hash tagging and use of images
2. Understand, develop and apply the concept of a “perceived authority” and “digital account credibility” by who, when and why a specific account should follow other specific accounts (i.e. CAIPER follows the National Center, the National Center follows IPEC Org, a new account should follow all of these accounts)
3. Determine how many social media platforms they are comfortable using, engaging with and expanding
4. Determine one goal for their social media presence
5. Leave with a strategies for time invested vs. return goals for social media use.
