Theresa Jizba, DNP, AGACNP-BC, ACHPN, is a palliative care nurse practitioner and assistant professor at Creighton University, where she teaches advanced pathophysiology to all graduate-level nursing students. Dr. Jizba is a member of the Center for Interprofessional Practice, Education, and Research at Creighton, catalyzing interprofessional education and practice between Creighton University students, patients, and providers in medical settings. Through her research, Dr. Jizba aims to explore innovative educational strategies focused on teaching interprofessional collaboration to improve patient outcomes. Dr. Jizba holds concurrent employment as a palliative medicine nurse practitioner at Nebraska Methodist Hospital and is an active member of the Nebraska Palliative Care and Quality of Life Advisory Council. Her interests include interprofessional simulation, primary palliative care education, and advocacy for palliative care services.

Health professional programs must create learning environments conducive to interprofessional teams to prepare students for their expert roles. Interprofessional Education (IPE) activities are ideal for simulating the collaborative practice environment. Within IPE activities, students must learn to care for patients' physical and mental health needs across their lifespans.
