Becca Willman, OT, OTD, OTR is a 2023 graduate of the MGH Institute of Health Professions (IHP) entry-level Doctor of Occupational Therapy program. Aligning with her clinical and research interests in mental health, Becca has carried out research involving interprofessional stakeholders including an exploration of the role of OT in eating disorder treatment and an adolescent mental health needs assessment focused on community reintegration following residential treatment. She has maintained active involvement in the interprofessional curriculum at the IHP from participating as a student, peer facilitator, then lead peer facilitator to provide mentorship and support student learning.

Lightning Talk Description: Microaggressions are a “form of disrespect, devaluation, prejudice, and exclusion of the recipients” that arise from conscious or unconscious bias (Ehie et al. 2021). Studies show that in clinical practice, microaggressions perpetuate health disparities and have a detrimental impact on outcomes as well as negatively influence the patient and provider relationship.
