Maureen Welty has 14 years of experience in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at the Children's Hospital of Illinois, first as a bedside nurse, then an extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) nurse, and for the last 5 years as an Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. Additionally, Maureen began working as an Advanced Practice Clinical Education Specialist in 2022, helping to create and implement curriculum for the OSF Advanced Practice Provider Fellowship. She has published research on optimizing diagnostic laboratory utilization on children receiving ECMO therapy, and has worked with a team to improve early mobility and reduce length of stay.

Lightning Talk Description: A large, system-based, accredited transition-to-practice program for Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) and Physician Assistants (Pas), known as the Advanced Practice Provider (APP) fellowship, expanded the program into the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) of the Children’s Hospital in late 2022.
