Mary Stamatakis serves as Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Educational Innovation and Professor at the West Virginia University School of Pharmacy. In this capacity, she oversees development, implementation, and evaluation of all educational aspects of the Doctor of Pharmacy degree program. She facilitates curricular development and innovation, serves as the liaison for interprofessional education initiatives, and manages the continued accreditation of the program. She is responsible for faculty development, student and faculty awards and recognition, and School of Pharmacy committee activities. In 2012, she received the Jerry Siegel Clinical Achievement Award from The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center Pharmacy.

Background: Patients experiencing homelessness have a high risk for chronic medical conditions, a higher mortality rate than the general population and often have difficulty accessing and managing medications. For these reasons, it is important to incorporate experiences into health professions curricula so students are better prepared to provide medical care for these patients.
