Lena Maynor, PharmD, BCPS, is a Professor at West Virginia University School of Pharmacy. After earning her Doctor of Pharmacy degree, Dr. Maynor completed a Pharmacy Practice Residency at Charleston Area Medical Center in Charleston, WV, and an Internal Medicine Pharmacy Residency with Emphasis in Nephrology at Virginia Commonwealth University Health System in Richmond, VA. Dr. Maynor’s accomplishments include the School of Pharmacy 2009, 2012, 2015, and 2020 Outstanding Teaching Award, 2010 WVU Health Science Center Teaching Academy of Excellence, 2014 WVU School of Pharmacy Outstanding Achievements in Service Award, and 2020 WVU HSC Award for Excellence in Interprofessional Education.

Background: Patients experiencing homelessness have a high risk for chronic medical conditions, a higher mortality rate than the general population and often have difficulty accessing and managing medications. For these reasons, it is important to incorporate experiences into health professions curricula so students are better prepared to provide medical care for these patients.
