          Leah’s teaching experience includes both the clinical and classroom settings.  She is a certified pediatric acute care nurse practitioner with nursing experience in pediatric hematology/oncology and emergency care. She encourages her students to build a strong foundation of nursing practice through a patient and family-centered approach in order to holistically care for their patients, families, and communities.
      
Presenting at the Nexus Summit:
Health professionals report a lack of confidence and comfort in communicating and caring for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We designed an educational session for health professional students to hear the perspective of a parent of a child with Down syndrome about their experiences with the healthcare system and life with their child.
