La Sheron Bankhead is a speech-language pathologist at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, where she provides inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation services with a primary focus in dysphagia management and special clinical interests in critical care, head and neck cancer, and alaryngeal voice restoration.
A graduate of an historically black college and university, Hampton University before pursuing and completing her clinical degree at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, La Sheron is an advocate for increased diversity and sits on the Education and Development Subcommittee on the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion council at MedStar Georgetown. La Sheron aims to continue fostering diversity, inclusion, and providing spaces for increased collaboration to promote improved health outcomes for patients and the community.

Description: Palliative care and rehabilitation professionals have aligned goals and share a philosophy of person/family centered, holistic care that incorporates physical, psychosocial, and spiritual domains yet models of interprofessional collaborative practice are sparse.
