Dr. Kevin Schroeder is the Coordinator of Clinical Education and a Lecturer III within the Athletic Training Program at the University of New Mexico. Prior to his time at UNM, Kevin was an athletic trainer in the interdisciplinary Human Performance Clinic for the 351st Battlefield Airmen Training Squadron at Kirtland Air Force Base. He has also worked as an athletic trainer at the Colorado Springs Olympic Training Center’s interdisciplinary Sports Medicine Clinic where he oversaw combat sports. He was a member of the 2015 ParaPan America Games Medical Staff in Toronto, and the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

Context: The Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) 2020 Standards for Professional Programs highlight the need to further incorporate interprofessional education (IPE) components into the curricula for athletic training programs. IPE can be a challenging component to integrate into the curriculum on an ongoing and routine basis, especially when access, quantity, and quality of IPE resources are limited at individual universities.
