Jennifer Thompson Tetnowski is an Assistant Professor at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. She has been a practicing Speech Language Pathologist for over 20 years, treating individuals with communication impairments related to aphasia, dementia, and traumatic brain injury. Her research has focused on the use of Conversation Analysis to demonstrate group cohesiveness as well as treatment efficacy. She has published over 13 manuscripts and presented over 35 times on these topics.

Background: Aphasia affects at least 2,000,000 people in the United States and creates communication difficulties which affect quality of life for the person with aphasia, their communication partners, and their caregivers. Aphasia may be accompanied by changes in physical abilities and other mental abilities as well. Many of these patients have health needs after exhausting their benefits. Caregivers are at higher risk for not accessing needed services for themselves.
