Elise Bloch, EdD, OT/L is a Professor in the Department of Occupational Therapy at Nova Southeastern University. She serves as college chair of the IPE Committee spearheading IPE and Patient and Family-Centered Care (PFCC) initiatives throughout the university. Dr. Bloch has served as past Chair of the Patient and Family Advisory Council at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital providing PFCC education to house staff and residents throughout the Memorial Healthcare System in Hollywood, Florida. In 2019, Dr. Bloch received the Celebration of Service Award from the Florida Hospital Association for her community service at the Memorial Healthcare System. Dr. Bloch has presented on PFCC at national and international conferences and is committed to disseminating PFCC knowledge and making systems safer by partnering with patients and families. Dr. Bloch is an active board member of the Florida Network on Disabilities and the Florida Families Leaders Network.

This model calls for collaboration between patients and families with healthcare professionals recognizing their critical stakeholder perspectives.
