Dr. E. Adel Herge is Professor and Program Coordinator for the BS OTD Program in the Department of Occupational Therapy at Thomas Jefferson University. As part of her work in the university serves as faculty for the Jefferson Center for Interprofessional Education where she is the lead on Team Care Planning-an interprofessional simulation program focusing on development of teamwork skills in interprofessional university students. Dr. Herge has presented at local, state and national venues on interprofessional education and simulation and has co-authored chapters in a recently published workbook on simulation in health care.

Lightning Talk Description: Black women face higher mortality rates during childbirth due to factors such as provider dismissiveness and unnecessary interventions (Adams & Thomas, 2017; Bond et al., 2021). Lightning Talk Description: This lightning talk will describe the launching of formal, centralized interprofessional education (IPE) at Clarkson University through the adaptation and implementation of Team Care Planning (TCP). TCP is a simulated clinical discharge planning meeting where students experience working in an interprofessional team to plan the discharge of a patient from the hospital.
