Bridgett Piernik-Yoder, PhD, OTR, FAOTA, is Professor and Chair of the Department of Occupational Therapy at UT Health San Antonio. Her clinical expertise is in adult neurorehabilitation and her scholarly work addresses rehabilitation outcomes, supporting the needs of older adults and their caregivers living in the community, home safety and the reduction of fall risks for older adults, and the scholarship of teaching and learning.

Lightning Talk Description:  Background: As the US population ages, many older adults with dementia rely on family caregivers for health-related care and daily activities. Issues associated with caregiver burden in this setting are well-documented, including caregivers’ diminished quality of life and health.
