Lightning Talk Description: This presentation will discuss the development and implementation of a continuous quality improvement (CQI) project targeting an interprofessional training program, Enhancing Services for Homeless Populations (ESHP). ESHP uses a 3-D virtual world (3-DVW) to train interprofessional teams of students in health and human service professions to advance their knowledge and skills in caring for persons experiencing homelessness (PEH). The focus of the CQI was to implement and evaluate the impact of new content in the area of harm reduction on student knowledge, attitudes, and satisfaction. This presentation addresses the Nexus Summit priority criteria of measurable learning outcomes and addresses factors beyond clinical care that affect the health of PEH through CQI of interprofessional education.

The CQI process consisted of 1) identifying timely and relevant harm reduction content to enhance the original 3-DVW program; 2) assessing content for applicability to previously designed cases and program format; 3) developing a plan to evaluate results of the enhanced 3-DVW program; 4) analyzing program outcomes to identify and implement next steps. Improvements to program assessment and evaluations included addition of questions pertaining to students’ understanding of SDoH and harm reduction, and comprehensive closed and open-ended post-program evaluation questions.

The revised pre- and post-program surveys were administered to 4 cohorts (N&#3f16 students; 4 professions). The knowledge assessment included 10 multiple-choice questions probing students’ understanding of social determinants of health and harm reduction principles. Attitudes and self-efficacy in providing care to PEH were measured on a 6-point Likert scale (6=strongly agree) across 14 questions adapted from the Health Professions Attitudes Towards Homelessness Inventory (Buck et al., 2005). At post-program, students rated their team performance using the Jefferson Teamwork Observation Guide (JTOG; Collins et al., 2019), newly developed program evaluation questions, and debriefing data were collected for qualitative analysis.

Students showed significant increases in knowledge from pre-program (M=76%, SD=.17%) to post-program (M=85%, SD=12%), t(12)=-2.25, p
